I bought 3 pair of socks in December and have tested them for good now. I bought a pair of navy merino socks. Excellent quality, warmest cycling socks i have now. I testet them to -11°C in Bavarian Mountains (Zugspitze) and the socks kept me warm with a pair of rapha classic overshoes (not especially warm overshoes..). The only thing I found is that the socks are a tiny bit on the big side for me, my feet are about 43. I buy shoes normally in 43,5 (depends on brand). But it isn't affecting the usage while cycling, for running it is a bad idea to wear socks this thick anyways.
The two other pairs I bought were classic socks Banana and Mandarine.
The Banana socks were perfect! Color was near spot on for what I was looking for. I needed a pair as a gift for my dad, who has a bright yellow Look KG386 (slightly dirty Yellow).
Now to the mandarine pair which I bought for myself. I was pumped because I hoped to find a matching pair of socks to my burnt orange Rapha Aero jersey. When I received the pair I was happy with the fit. But the Color was not what I expected. I expected a rich, deep and vibrant Orange. But the Socks were White on the inside which meant, when they get stretched the white is coming through in between the orange fibers. This is taking a lot of energy out of the bright orange color of the outside, which is quite sad. For reference I am 183cm tall and weigh 69kg, I would describe myself as skinny.
Don't get me wrong tough, it is still a great pair of socks, but it makes me doubtful in buying new pairs. For example the Yves color, is it really as deep of a color as it looks in the picture and has it got that changeant effect in real life?
Hope this helps someone!
Best regards (und immer Kette rechts ;))
